WALDOBORO (AP) – A New York man was killed and his friend injured when their car hit a tree broadside on Route 220 early Thanksgiving morning, police said.
The accident happened at about 12:20 a.m., and excessive speed was a factor in the crash, Sgt. Michael Middaugh told the Bangor Daily News. He said the men were in the area visiting family for the holidays.
Andrew Fisher, 22, of Bedford Hills, N.Y., died at 2:05 at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta, a hospital spokesman said. Fisher was the passenger in a car driven by Garrett Schilke, 21, of South Salem, N.Y.
Schilke was reported in good condition Friday at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Middaugh said it is not known if alcohol was involved.
