LEWISTON – Roland C. Pelletier, 82, of Gateway Apts., Lisbon Street, Lewiston, died at D’Youville Nursing Home Wednesday, Nov. 26.

He was born in Lewiston on Oct. 10, 1921, the son of Cyprien and Marie ( Albert ) Pelletier. He was educated in the Lewiston school system. In September of 1942, he entered into the U.S. Army where he served as sargeant during World War II, until his discharge in November of 1945. He married the former Aurora Levesque on Oct. 4, 1948 and settled down to raise their family.

He belonged to St. Peter & Paul’s Church. Mr. Pelletier was employed as a cook at Jimmy’s Diner until his retirement in 1983. He had a passion for cooking and enjoyed sharing his creations with other tenants in the building. He was an avid sports enthusiast and was a true Boston Red Sox and Montreal Canadiens fan. He enjoyed being with people and often visited with patients at the nursing home.

He is survived by: his four daughters, Theresa Lamie and her husband, Laurier, and Velma Lussier, both of Lewiston, Sandra Amendt and her husband, Jerry, of Illinois, and Patricia Goss and her husband, Kevin, of Bangor; a son, Robert Pelletier and his wife, Cheryl, of Auburn; two brothers, Leo Pelletier of Lewiston and Roger Pelletier and his wife, Gloria, of Fla.; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Aurore, a daughter, Theresa, and his brothers, Gerry and Emile Pelletier. Roland will be sadly missed by his special friend Donna Rowell.
