LEWISTON – The Senior College “Food for Thought” luncheon series will present the Edward Little High School Show Choir on Tuesday, Dec. 9. Led by faculty adviser Beth Labrie, the students will present a varied program chosen for the season.

The program will be held at noon in the Community Room at L/A College on Westminster Street. The cost is $5, which includes lunch. It is open to everyone. Call 753-6510 by Monday, Dec. 8, for reservations.

AIDS Day

AUBURN – The Unitarian Universalist Church announces that it will host the World AIDS Day service at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at the church, 159 Pleasant St. The topic will be “Overcoming Stigma and Discrimination: Live and Let Live.”

The church will sponsor the event in conjunction with PreventionWorks HarmReduction Services, Tri-County Health Services and Outfront of Bates College. An interfaith service, it will involve clergy from many area religious groups. All are invited.

The service will include readings, prayers, a candlelight ceremony in memory of those who have died of HIV/AIDS and a celebration of those living with the disease. Refreshments will follow. More information is available by calling 783-0461. Pastor is the Rev. Dr. Jodi Hayashida.

POLAND – Androscoggin Pomona Grange 1 will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Excelsior Grange for a 6:30 p.m. supper and meeting. A Christmas program will be presented by the lecturer. All members and guests are invited

WINTHROP – Winthrop Grange 209 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, for a potluck supper, chaired by Bill and Norma Maxim and Audrey Yeaton. The business meeting at 7:30 p.m. will be followed by a program presented by Lecturer Stan Taylor.

Florida trip

LEWISTON – The Lewiston Senior Citizens and Yankee Line of Boston are sponsoring a 16-day trip to Daytona Beach, Fla., from Feb. 14 to 29, open to anyone. It will be the 21st annual bash. Society party

LEWISTON – Saints Peter-Paul Society of Saints Peter and Paul Parish will celebrate the annual Christmas party on Saturday, Dec. 6, at Marco’s Restaurant. Banquet room doors will open at 5:15 p.m. Parking is available, free, at the parking garage.

Evening festivities will conclude with a Chinese auction. Tickets are available at the rectory, 777-1200, or calling Chairwoman Marie Badeau at 782-8183. Reservations will not be accepted after Thursday, Dec. 4.

Holiday drive

AUBURN – To make the holidays a little brighter for children living in domestic violence shelters, Verizon Wireless is conducting a “Kids In Need Holiday Drive.” The stores have adopted a local domestic violence shelter to collect games, toys, books and gift certificates for children ranging in age from infants to teens.

Stores located at 352 Center St., Auburn, and 203 Bath Road, Brunswick, will serve as drop-off points for the drive, which runs through Dec. 14. All items will be donated directly to the Abused Women’s Advocacy Project on Dec. 15.

New, unwrapped toys, games, books and gift certificates will be accepted at both stores Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
