WINTHROP – “Waiting with Excitement” will be the theme for the special worship services leading up to Christmas during the season of Advent at the Winthrop United Methodist Church, 58 Main St.

The sermon series schedule is as follows: Dec. 7, “Waiting with Purpose”; Dec. 14, “Waiting with Joy and Expectation”; and Dec. 21, “Waiting with Excitement.”

On Dec. 21 there also will be special Christmas pageants at the two services. Special music will be offered each week at the 10:30 a.m. service by the 20-member choir, under the direction of Patti English, music director. Sunday nursery care will be provided by the staff.

On Christmas Eve, there will be services at 7 and 11 p.m. The first service will be a family candlelight service with the theme, “Wait No More – Love Has Arrived.” The 11 p.m. service will be more reflective with candlelight, carols and communion.

The sanctuary is handicapped accessible by elevator through the side door near the gas station.
