1928 – 2003

NORWAY – Barbara E. Perkins, 75, passed away Saturday, Nov. 29, at Stephens Memorial Hospital. She had suffered failing health for several years.

She was born in Otisfield on Sept. 26, 1928, to Linley and Pearl Haley Peaco. She attended Fryeburg Academy and Norway High School. She married Ray A. Perkins on Feb. 8, 1947. They had two children, Robert and Michael.

She had been employed as a housekeeper as well as at Harlow’s Drug Store in Norway and other local businesses. Later in the 1970’s she worked in the kitchen at Stephens Memorial Hospital. She was a 40-year member of the Oxford American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid reader and enjoyed current events.

She enjoyed living in Oxford Village and seeing her family grow and prosper. For many year’s she and Ray hosted the family Thanksgiving gathering. It was always a busy, large gathering with many delicious homemade dishes and desserts. A little more than two years ago she moved from Oxford Village to Norway. She is survived by her son, Michael and his wife Pat of Oxford; her mother, Pearl Peaco, and brother, Gordon Peaco both of Otisfield; two grandchildren, Amie of Oxford and Tom of Mechanic Falls; nieces and nephews, Debbie Peaco, Penny Peaco, Danny Peaco and his wife Gretchen all of Otisfield, Tom and Maryjane Peaco of Durham and Stephen Peaco of Berwick; a great-niece, Becky and her son Joshua; and great-nephews, Zebb and Zane.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ray; a son, Robert; and her father, Linley.
