Every year, Civil Rights Teams from across the state of Maine congregate at the Augusta Civic Center for the annual Maine Civil Rights Teams Training Conference. Lisbon High School had six members in attendance, along with members from P. W. Sugg Middle School and Mr. Ed Nunnery as the advisor.

At the conference, the team was divided into separate groups. Mixed with members from other teams, the groups engaged in a variety of awareness activities including an exercise in diversity and a lesson on the Civil Rights Act. The conference concluded with each team’s statement of their goals for the year in progress. There will be a follow-up conference of the fall session in the spring of 2004. All who attended the fall conference had a great time and those who can mention plans of returning next year.
