BETHEL – The annual Christmas with the Masons will be held starting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Dr. Moses Mason House. The museum will be decorated and hot mulled cider will be served from the hearth. Candlelight and special harp music will add to the atmosphere.

The public is invited to the free program. At 7:30 p.m. the director, Stanley R. Howe, will show and discuss images made from early 20th century lantern slides of Bethel area scenes from a collection acquired during 2003.

Santa’s arrival

HARRISON – Santa’s arrival will take place between noon and 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, when a parade starts the festivities from Depot Street to the Town Common.

Santa’s workshop will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., when children can have pictures taken with Santa. The Ladies Fire Auxiliary will serve a public supper at 5 p.m. at the Fire Station. Christmas carol singers will gather from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Olde Mill Tavern.

Scout fair

SUMNER – Girl Scout Troop 605 is sponsoring a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Hartford-Sumner Elementary School. There will be stamped cards, maple syrup, hand-painted Christmas decorations and a kids craft area. For more information, call 336-2053.

Holiday concert

NORWAY – The Second Congregational Church of Norway will be celebrating the Advent season with the Hanging of the Greens Candlelight Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7. The public is invited.

Bells and voices will accompany the children’s pageantry. Refreshments will be available.

AARP party

PARIS – The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will hold its annual Christmas party at noon Monday, Dec. 8, at the VFW Hall on East Main Street in South Paris. Members and invited guests are welcome. Bring a dish to share for a potluck lunch and a canned good to donate to the food pantry.

To participate in a gift exchange, a woman should bring a gift for a woman and a man a gift for a man. Gifts should be under $5.

A reminder to members that if on the meeting day there is a snowstorm or if there is no school because of weather, the meeting will be held the next day on Tuesday.

Extension project

FRYEBURG – Members of the Fryeburg Homemakers Extension will meet at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the Legion Hall on Bradley Street.

They will make Christmas favors for the nursing home before going to the annual party. Members and guests will then meet at 11 a.m. at the White Mountain Hotel at Hales Location for the annual Christmas luncheon and gift exchange.

Church program

LOVELL – The Locke Mills Union Church will present a Christmas program titled “Noel Celebration” at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at the church, under the direction of church organist and choir director Beverly Melville. The chorus features four-part mixed voices with solo pieces sung by Cheryl Lord, Sondra Withey and Carol Murray.

Blood drive

NAPLES – An American Red Cross community blood drive will take place from 2 to 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at the Naples United Methodist Church, 1000 Roosevelt Trail, Route 302.
