FARMINGTON – A free child identification program intended to obtain a DNA sample will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, at Farmington Ford at 361 Wilton Road.
The method is noninvasive, according to a prepared statement, and involves rubbing the inside of a child’s cheek with an applicator from a kit provided by the DNA Lifeprint National Child Safety Program.
The applicator is placed in a solution where the child’s DNA will be preserved “for more than 80 years,” according to a statement about the program.
