LIVERMORE FALLS – Community Development Advisory Committee members couldn’t agree Monday evening on who would be the best consultant for the job so they postponed their decision until next week.
That action will take place after they have had an opportunity to meet with representatives from Pierce-Atwood and Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments.
At issue is hiring a firm to do a planning study of the village from the Jay town line to Bailey Brothers to indicate strengths and weaknesses and to suggest long-term planning strategy.
Members favoring AVCOG commented on its staff’s knowledge of the community while opponents saw that as a detriment. Another firm might take a fresh look at the community, it was suggested.
Town Manager Alan Gove and committee members will make further inquiries about both firms, talking with other towns which have used their services. Gove will try to make arrangements for representatives from both to met with the committee at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 8.
