RUMFORD – The Rumford Lodge of Elks No. 862 will host its annual memorial service on Sunday, Dec. 7. The first Sunday of December is set aside for lodges to honor their departed members.
The ceremony is for all departed members, especially those in the past year.
A continental breakfast will be available from 8 to 9 a.m. and the ceremony will begin at 9 a.m. Anyone interested in attending or needing a ride may contact Sandee Welch at 364-2548 or the lodge at 364-4022.
Class of ’56
RUMFORD – The women of Stephens High School Class of 1956 will have a Christmas gathering Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Faylene Philbrick’s in Frye. A car pool will leave at 12:30 p.m. from Food City. Hoop contest
RUMFORD – The Rumford Lodge of Elks No. 862 will host its annual Hoop Shoot contest for area girls and boys. The age categories are 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13. The contest will be held at Mountain Valley High School on Sunday, Dec. 14. Registration is from 8 to 9 a.m. with the Shoot Off starting at 9 a.m. Contestants must be accompanied by a parent and must have a copy of their birth certificate.

Nutrition program
RUMFORD – Nutrition consultant Robin Andrews will present a program on the benefits of eating fruits and vegetables at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at the Rumford Senior Center, Congress Street. Lunch will be available at 11:30 a.m. For reservations and menu, people can call Kim at 364-3572.
