OXFORD – Selectmen on Thursday agreed to a number of improvements to the public safety building.

The improvements were made possible by a $16,528 donation to the town from admission fees taken in during this summer’s Show, Shine & Drag event at the Oxford Plains Speedway sponsored by VIP Discount Auto & Tire.

Selectmen agreed to the building committee’s recommendation to use $11,695 of the donation as follows:

• $5,900 to buy and install a hood system for the kitchen.

• $4,500 to buy a downdraft work station for the evidence processing room.

• $1,000 to buy and install a roll up window for the pass-through between the kitchen and meeting room.

• $295 to provide lighting for the building sign and flagpole.

The balance of the donation, which is made each year for public safety improvements, will be kept in reserve for future building projects, said Town Treasurer Sharon Jackson.
