Outlook

The road to the Mid State League title has gone through Mountain Valley for over a decade and the Falcons will be strong again.

The biggest challenge will come from three-time defending Class C state champion Lisbon who has been ever so close at winning the MSL championship. Thankfully, the Greyhounds have always regrouped to dominate the regional and state meets.

Class B Mountain Valley is solid in the middle weights, led by defending state champion Chris Smith (160). There are solid wrestlers in the mix, including Travis Child (130), Aaron Arsenault (140) and Ben Madigan (152) who each placed third in the state meet. Travis Dragoon will dominate at 189, while Mike Hanson and Brendon Bradley battle at 215. David Smith (275) will break through.

Lisbon returns a solid cast and would be solid up to 160. Derek Guisto (135) is a 2x state champ and Nate Hix won the regional and state meet.

Dirigo and Monmouth will play spoiler because they each have kids who can score points. Cougar sophomore Devin Brann (152) led the team in wins and placed fourth in the state meet. Seniors Jamie Bedard (135) and Kyle Dolloff (171) are expected to rise to the occasion.

Senior Wes Danforth (130) is the most experienced wrestler at Monmouth. Dennis Trask also placed third at the regional. Several Mustangs will need to step up, including Nate Scott (145), Clayton Tisdale (160), Zach Sager (171) and Kyle Fox (189)
