BETHEL – Longtime Planning Board members Dennis Doyon and Suzi Harrington, whose 3-year terms expire Dec. 31, have opted not to seek re-election.

“They said they had had enough,” said Town Manager Scott Cole, who was soliciting more applicants after only one came in Monday.

The board consists of nine members. Seven can vote; the other two are alternates.

The board’s 7 p.m. meeting Wednesday is the pair’s last.

Planners and other town officials “are likely” to meet informally after the session to recognize their departure, Cole said.

“They’ve been on the board forever, some 10 to 20 years,” Cole said.

Harrington said Monday night that she couldn’t remember how long she had been a planner in Bethel, but guessed at between eight to 11 years. Doyon could not be reached.
