FARMINGTON – Three ensembles, three conductors, clarinet soloist Karen Beacham and a children’s chorus will present the Winter Concert Dec. 12, 13 and 14 at the University of Maine at Farmington’s Nordica Auditorium.

The program will feature the UMF Community Orchestra, the UMF Community Chorus, a special children’s choir, and the UMF Chamber Choir, at 7 p.m., Dec. 12 and 13 and 3 p.m., Dec. 14. The conductors for the concert will be Graybert Beacham, Carol Shumway and Steven Pane.

The central work is “Magnificat” by English composer John Rutter, a seven movement piece written in 1990 for chorus, children’s chorus, soloists and orchestra.

Also on the program will be the UMF Chamber Choir’s performance of Benjamin Britten’s “Hymn to St. Cecilia,” a tribute to the patron saint of music. Clarinetist Karen Beacham will perform the “Concerto in A Major for Clarinet” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The Winter Concert is open to the public. Tickets are $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, and free for UMF students with a valid ID. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at Mickey’s Hallmark store on Main Street, the UMF Bookstore or by calling the UMF Department of Visual and Performing Arts at 778-7072.
