WESTBROOK – The Maine Credit Union League has promoted Jon Paradise to governmental and public affairs manager. Since September 2000, he has served as the league’s director of communications.

Paradise will continue to serve as the primary media spokesman for the Maine Credit Union movement, and handle public relations and publications as well as taking the new role of managing the league’s governmental affairs activities.

Paradise is also the president of the Maine Public Relations Council.

The Maine Credit Union League also has hired Quincy Hentzel as its director of Governmental Affairs. Hentzel will handle the day-to-day responsibilities of the governmental affairs activities. She replaces Susan Dore, who left the organization in July. Most recently, Hentzel was a contract lobbyist for Drummond, Woodsum and MacMahon, a Portland law firm. Hentzel is a member of the Maine and Illinois Bar.

The league is the state trade association for Maine’s 77-affiliated credit unions.

Brenerman named to chair

AUGUSTA – The Maine State Chamber of Commerce has elected David Brenerman chairman of the board of directors.

Brenerman, assistant vice president of governmental and public affairs for UnumProvident Corp., succeeds Brad Hunter, chairman and chief executive officer at Fleet-Maine.

Daniel Hutchins, managing partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, was elected first vice chairman. Michael Stillings, principal at Baker, Newman & Noyes, becomes second vice chairman. Rosaire Pelletier, group controller at Fraser Papers Inc., is secretary/treasurer of the board.

In addition, the chamber welcomed new board members: Michael Dubyak of Wright Express Corp., Deborah Feck of Domtar Industry Inc., Roland Guerette of Marsh, Ray Robinson of Bangor Hydro-Electric Co., Dennis Rogers of Tambrands-Maine, Lee Wilbur of JAX Research Systems and Godfrey Wood of the Portland Regional Chamber.
