Joshua Mayo was arrested twice in five days.

RUMFORD – A Rumford man arrested Thursday afternoon on felony kidnapping and domestic assault charges, had another run-in with police Monday night.

Investigating officer James Bernard said Joshua Mayo, 24, who was freed Thursday after posting $30,000 surety bail, violated bail conditions after being served with a protection from abuse order.

Mayo’s reported victim – his 22-year-old ex-girlfriend – contacted police at 9 p.m. Monday, telling Bernard that Mayo had left a message on her cell phone.

After listening to the phone message, Bernard sought assistance from Oxford County Deputy Justin Brown and located Mayo at his father’s house in Peru at 10:50 p.m.

Charged with violation of bail conditions and violation of a protection from abuse order, Mayo, offered no resistance when arrested and was transported to Oxford County jail in Paris.

Mayo pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Tuesday in Rumford District Court and was released on $250 cash bail. He is not slated to be arraigned on the initial charges of Class A kidnapping and Class B aggravated assault until Jan. 6.

Those charges stemmed from an incident that occurred Wednesday, during which Mayo reportedly struck and dragged his ex-girlfriend into his pickup truck at her friend’s house in Rumford.
