1937 – 2003
BRYANT POND – Louise L. Newton, 66, of Bryant Pond, died at her residence Sunday, Dec. 7.
Born in St. Johnsbury, Vt., Nov. 15, 1937, she was the daughter of Leon and Ellen Clapper LaValley. She was educated in Lisbon, N.H. schools and graduated from Woodstock High School in 1955.
She had worked as a photographer for the Portland Press Herald for several years. She was a member of the Camp Fire Girls, Bryant Pond Universalist Church and had served as a Weeblos Scout leader. She was an artist and painter, and was owner and pilot of a lake amphibian plane and a 150 Cessna.
She married Ormand Andrews in 1955 who died in 1966 as the result of a plane crash. She married Burton L. Newton in 1967 and he died in 1985.
Survivors include one son, Clay Andrews of Holy Hills, Fla.; one daughter, Colleen Batchelder of North Carolina; six grandchildren; and three sisters, Lillian Chapman of Brownfield, Leona Benson of Ozark, Ala., and Lena LaValley of San Antonio, Texas.
