LISBON – The women’s auxiliary to VFW Post 9459 has rescheduled the Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day dinner and program to Friday, Dec. 12, at the post home in Lisbon. Social hour is 4 to 5 p.m. with dinner from 5 to 6. Donation is $5. World War II veterans who are members of the post will receive a complimentary dinner. Call 353-9078 for more information. The menus is spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, dessert and coffee or tea.
Seniors trip
LEWISTON – Lewiston Senior Citizens had to re-schedule their Christmas trip to Beacon Resort to Sunday, Dec. 14, due to last week’s snowstorm. There are seats available. Anyone interested should contact Rina at the Multi-Purpose Center at 784-2926 extension 207 or Bert at 786-2305. The trip includes transportation, meal and show. Santa Claus will present everyone with a gift. The cost is $55 for members and $60 for non-members. No children please.
Rebekah luncheon
AUBURN – Members of Liberty Rebekah Lodge 94 will gather at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at the Odd Fellows’ Hall, 50 Elm St., for a Christmas potluck luncheon of finger foods. Instead of gift exchange everyone is to bring a toy for children to support the Mother Hubbard program of Rebekah Assembly President Lucille Nelson. Games and Christmas music will be enjoyed. A regular meeting will take place at 7.
Holiday concert
AUBURN – Auburn Community Band director, Milt Simon, has announced that the band will give a 90-minute holiday concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at the Olin Arts Center, Bates College, Lewiston. This is a new location for the group’s 23rd annual concert.
The 55-member band will perform both traditional and contemporary holiday favorites, including three songs celebrating the Jewish holiday of Chanukah. As an added attraction, the concert will include a guest performance by the popular group Turkey Hollow, featuring local musicians Denny Breau, Dave Rowe and Tom Rowe.
In lieu of admission, those attending this free concert will have the opportunity to drop a donation into the Salvation Army Kettle, which will be located in the lobby. All money donated that evening will be used to help local area residents in need of assistance.
