1923 – 2003

WATERVILLE – Clifford F. Morissette, 80, of Waterville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Mount Saint Joseph’s Nursing Home.

Born on Feb. 6, 1923, the son of Mathias and Adrienne Poulin Morissette, he was a World War II veteran, having served in the Air Force.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Waterville Elks Lodge and the Waterville American Legion.

He spent most of his life working as a mail carrier for the post office and also had a successful career as a realtor in the Waterville area.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling around the world, going to his summer camp and playing cards. He was an avid cribbage player and once won a city tournament.

Survivors include his wife, Mary (Joyce) Morissette of Waterville; two sons, Randall C. Morissette of China, and Stephen Morissette of Waterville; two daughters, Diana Poliquin and her husband Gilbert of Poland, and Jane Morissette of Waterville; two brothers, Pearley of California, and Lionel of Waterville; two sisters, Anita Poulin of Winslow, and Theresa LeClair of Brewer; five grandchildren, Angela Cook, Amy Hutchinson, Lisa Dulac, Christine Morissette and Paul Duperry Jr.; and three great-grandchildren, Kaleb Cook, Hali Cook and Maeve Hutchinson.

He is also survived by seven stepchildren, Margaret “Peggy” (Cassidy) Herard, John, Daniel III, Michael, Brian, Thomas and Scott Cassidy; several nieces and nephews; and several step nieces, step nephews and step-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Jeanette (Belanger) Morissette, his second wife, Jacqueline (Toulouse) Morissette; two brothers, Raymond and Clement Morissette; two sisters, Yvette Morissette and Jeanette Poulin; and a step son, James Cassidy.
