1941 – 2003

NEWBURYPORT, Mass. – Richard B. Boutin, 62, of Meaders Lane, Salisbury, Mass., died Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 10, at the Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, Mass., after a prolonged illness.

He was the husband of the late Gemma Caron Boutin, with whom he shared 36 beautiful years of marriage.

Born in Lewiston, Jan. 23, 1941, the son of the late Renee and Marie Pare Boutin, he grew up and attended schools in Lewiston and was a 1958 graduate of Lewiston High School.

Mr. Boutin was a regional sales manager with the Globe Department Store chain for more than 20 years. He was a consummate salesman who enjoyed interacting with the people he encountered in his professional life.

As a Salisbury resident for 30 years, he was active in the Star of the Sea Church community. He served many positions in the church, including the CCD program director and organizer of the Confirmation classes.

He was blessed with a magnetic personality and had an effect on everyone he met. Above all else, he loved his family and treasured the time he spent with them.

Survivors include three sons, James Boutin and his fiancee, Kathy Moore of Seabrook, N.H., David Boutin and his wife Kelly of Fairfield, Pa., and Brian Boutin and his wife Kendra of Derry, N.H.; two daughters, Christina Boutin-Leary and husband Brian Leary of Seabrook, N.H., and Jennifer Hamilton and her husband Peter of Salisbury, Mass.; one brother, Robert Boutin and his wife Paula of Lewiston; one sister, Constance Arnold and her husband Charles of Saco; eight grandchildren, Katie and Lindsey Boutin, Cameron and Gemma Leary, Brittany, Zachary and Kaylee Boutin, and Mackenzie Hamilton; and many nieces and nephews.
