LOWELL, Mass. (AP) – Maxime Ouellet made 34 saves to lead the Portland Pirates to a 3-2 victory over the Lowell Lock Monsters Friday in an American Hockey League game.
Graham Mink and Owen Fuffy each scored in the opening seven minutes of the third period to give the Pirates a 3-1 lead.
Chad Larose scored the first goal of his AHL career at 7:21, 24 seconds after Fuffy’s goal, but Ouellet closed the door after that to halt Portland’s winless streak at seven games.
Dany Sabourin made 23 saves for Lowell (10-11-2-1), which loses four straight games.
Colin Forbes gave the Pirates (9-13-1-2) a 1-0 lead with a power play goal early in the second period. Lowell tied the game later in the period with a power play goal of its own. Brett Lysak’s goal at 15:06 was Lowell’s first goal in 185 minutes, 43 seconds.
Pavel Brendl assisted on both of Lowell’s goals.
