1932 – 2003

AUGUSTA – Wayman H. Walker, 71, passed away Thursday Dec. 11, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta following a long illness.

He was born April 3, 1932 in Allagash, the son of Herbert and Jesephine Hafford Walker.

He worked for many years at Potato Service in Presque Isle. He was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War.

He married the love of his life, Katherine “Kay” Thompson on Dec. 5, 1955.

Mr. Walker was a life member of the B.P.O.E. Lodge in Presque Isle and Gardiner. He was also a member of the VFW Post #2599 in Presque Isle, where he served as chaplain.

He is survived by his wife Katherine of Randolph; two daughters and “sons,” Debbie and Tom Fillyaw of Chelsea, and Marie and Peter Bragdon of Wales; two granddaughters, Monica Bragdon of Sabattus, and Jessica Bragdon of Orlando, Fla.; “Banky’s” special great-granddaughter, Madison Rose; a very special sister, Viola Walker St. Pierre of Bangor; a special sister-in-law, Shelly Thompson of Derry, N.H.; 11 half sisters; one step brother; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by “Gidget,” his long and faithful companion.

He was predeceased by his parents; his daughter, Candi Sue in 1981; his stepmother, Winifred Walker; stepfather, Herman Gardiner; and a brother, Olin Walker.
