1915 – 2003

LEWISTON – Blanche Curran, 88, formerly of Maison Marcotte, Lewiston, died Friday, Dec. 12, at the d’Youville Pavilion Nursing Home.

Born in Lewiston on Oct. 7, 1915, she was the daughter of William and Laura Fortin Curran. Educated at St. Peter’s and St. Patrick’s Schools, she attended high school at the St. Hyacinthe Novitiate in Canada, and attended college at the University of Maine campuses in Auburn, Augusta and Portland.

She was employed for many years as a part-time teacher at St. Peter’s, Healy Asylum and Sacred Heart Schools, and worked full-time as an LPN at St. Mary’s Hospital.

She was a member of the Children of Mary at St. Peter’s School, served as the district president of the Catholic Women’s Council and was elected state president in 1969, was a volunteer for S.E.A.R.C.H, and served as a Eucharistic Minister at Ss. Peter & Paul Church.

She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and one great-great-great-nephew, Hunter.

She was predeceased by a sister, Lillian Dufresne; and three brothers, Leo, Gerry, and Patrick Curran.
