BETHEL – Jillian Kimball nailed a 3-pointer with three minutes remaining to cap Telstar’s double-digit comeback and give the Rebels the lead for good in a 43-39 MVC girls’ basketball triumph Saturday over Georges Valley.

Telstar (1-1) trailed 14-2 after one quarter and 20-13 at the half before closing the gap to two thanks to a 20-point production in the third period. Kelsey Dole scored nine of her team-high 13 points for the Rebels in the third.

Rachel Campbell led all scorers with 26 points for the Buccaneers (1-2), who were limited to four points in the decisive fourth quarter.

Eastgate 46, Averill 20

NEW GLOUCESTER – Brittany Legare poured in 16 points, recorded six steals and dished out nine assists to lead Eastgate Christian Academy to a convincing 46-20 win over Averill in girls’ basketball action Saturday.

Angie Elvin added 14 points for the Eagles (3-0), who built a 28-9 lead at the end of the first half and never looked back in the victory.

Lisa Seavy and Daniele Gowen combined for 15 points for Averill.

Mt. Abram 62, Carrabec 28

SALEM – Sophomore center Briana Wilkins had a double-double with a game-high 16 points and 15 rebounds to power Mt. Abram to a 62-28 win over Carrabec in MVC girls’ basketball action Saturday.

The Roadrunners (2-1) sizzled with intensity in the first quarter, outscoring the Cobras (0-3) by a margin of 28-1 and defining the tone for the rest of the contest.

Lyn Plog contributed 11 points, while Danielle Bisson recorded 10 points.

Magen Merrill had a team-high eight points for the Cobras, and teammate Kelly Rudman chipped in with six points in the loss.
