MEXICO – Selectmen plan to discuss an agreement that the fire department has allowing the Rumford fire department to use Mexico’s ladder truck when the board meets Tuesday.

The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m., Dec. 16, in the town office.

The agreement began a few months ago, soon after Rumford’s truck could not pass inspection and its new one wasn’t ready for service.

Board Chairman Arthur Bordeau said the board will discuss whether to extend the agreement. Rumford’s ladder truck won’t be in service for at least a several more months.

The board will also appoint members to the Citizens Advisory Board, a committee charged with economic renewal and beautification of the downtown district. Also on the agenda is a discussion of business and residential ordinances and an update on snow-clearing activities by the public works department.

Prior to the meeting, 10 public hearings will be held, including six for trailer parks and three for automobile graveyard/junkyard licenses. Another hearing will solicit comments on a proposal to prohibit parking during the winter on the north end of Orchard Street where it intersects with Route 17.

Two closed sessions are scheduled following the public portion of the meeting. The first would be on the town manager’s duties and possible changes to them. The second would be to discuss a potential business venture.
