1909-2003
LEWISTON – Thelma Haschall Watson, 94, a resident of the Sarah Frye Home, Auburn, formerly of Pride Road and Auburn Townhouse, died early Sunday morning, Dec. 14, at Central Maine Medical with her family by her side following a brief illness.
She was born in Durham on Aug. 17, 1909.
She moved to Auburn at a young age and was a charter member of the Stevens Mills Church where she had served as pianist, deaconess and treasurer of their Sunday School. It is believed that Mrs. Watson was the sole surviving charter member of Stevens Mills Church. She was the widow of Merle Carmi Watson who died in 1976.
She raised a family having worked as a housewife and a store clerk for store # 3 of the former WE.T. Grant on Lisbon Street in Lewiston. She had also been employed with Beacon Way, retiring in 1974.
Survivors include: one son, Mr. Ralph Watson, and his wife, Shirley, of Monmouth; and one daughter in law, Mrs. Martha Watson of Lewiston. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, and two great-grandsons.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by one son, Kenneth Lee Watson.
