AUBURN – The New Auburn American Legion Post 153 Cub and Boy Scouts took time off during their popcorn fund-raising sale to remember needy families at Thanksgiving.
They left plastic bags at area homes, returning to pick them up filled with food. The Scouts collected more than 31 bags with more than 200 items. New Auburn American Legion Post 153 filled boxes for veterans’ families and the extra food was given to the Veterans Center in Lewiston.
The boys are now making crafts for veterans and will visit them.
Any parents who have boys 7 and up who would like to be part of the Scout community can call Ron Poulin at 784-2875 or Ray or Edith Lemieux at 784-0656. Scout meetings are held from 7 to 8 p.m. Mondays at the New Auburn American Legion Post 153, South Main St. (use side door on Cook Street).
If anyone has craft items no longer in use the Scouts will pick them up for their use.
