ORONO (AP) – Leon Pattman scored 17 of his game-high 19 points in the second half and overtime as Dartmouth defeated Maine 68-65 Tuesday night.
Maine’s Kevin Reed hit a three-pointer with 11 seconds to go in regulation to send the game to overtime. Dartmouth (2-5) helped itself by making all 18 of its free throws after halftime. Michael McLaren and Michael Lang each chipped in 13 points for Dartmouth.
Eric Dobson led the Black Bears (4-2) with 16 points, but also committed seven of his team’s 19 turnovers, compared to just eight for Dartmouth. Maine battled back from a 56-47 deficit with 3:34 to play in regulation, and a three-point play by Dobson pulled the Black Bears to within one, 60-59. Two free throws by Dartmouth’s Steve Callahan gave the Big Green a three-point cushion.
