LEWISTON – La Survivance Francaise will hold a Christmas banquet at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at the Ramada Conference Center, Pleasant Street.

Recording artists Betty Cody and Ann and Denny Breau will provide entertainment. Tickets, $14, are still available by calling Aliette Couturier at 784-1434 no later than Wednesday, Dec. 17. The banquet is open to the public.

Lodge degree

MECHANIC FALLS – Tyrian Lodge 73, AF and AM, 474 South Main St., will work the master mason degree at a special communications on Thursday, Dec. 18. Degrees will be performed by the officers for 2003 at 7:30 p.m with supper at 6. All Master Masons are welcome.

Stated meeting

WALES – Webster Lodge 164, AF and AM, will hold its annual stated communication at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at the Wales Grange Hall, Centre Road.

Members should take note that a change in bylaws will be voted on that evening. Members and guests are invited. Refreshments will follow the meeting.

AUBURN – Auburn AC Serve, part of Serve New England’s food and volunteer program, will hold Distribution Day from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Auburn Advent Christian Church, Whitney Street entrance. SAD 52 catalog

TURNER – The winter/spring catalog for SAD 52 Adult Education will roll off the presses at the beginning of 2004. There will be many new classes along with old favorites. Beat cabin fever syndrome by taking a class or two. Learn a craft or take a subject to complete a diploma or General Educational Development certificate. There are also several on-line courses.

Exercise class

TURNER – A half-hour slow moving exercise class will be offered from 4:30 to 5 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays beginning Jan. 5 at Turner Elementary School. Cost is $2 a class and will feature tai chi, yoga and balanced flexibility activity. The instructor will be Bette J. Swett-Thibeault. MECHANIC FALLS – The fifth grades at Elm Street School recently visited Portland High School to see a musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “Christmas Carol.” The teachers said they were pleased with the performance as well as the behavior of the students.
