1919 – 2003
CANTON – Margaret G. Dyke, 84, of Canton, passed on to her eternal rest Monday afternoon, Dec. 15, at Victorian Villa Nursing Home with her family by her side.
She was born in Elizabeth, N.J., Dec. 5, 1919, the youngest of seven children born to John and Harriet Gary. The family enjoyed summers at the Pinewood Camps in Canton, where she worked as a waitress, and where she met her husband to be, Chester Dyke, who was the camp cook. They were married on Sept. 6, 1941. He predeceased her in March.
Mrs. Dyke devoted most of her life to being a homemaker, wife, and mother. She enjoyed her plants and flowers and her many hours in the kitchen. She was a longtime member and former Deaconess of the Canton United Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Susan Arsenault, Gary and his wife Mary, and Stanley and his wife Freda, all of Canton; her sister, Estelle Richardson of Canton; six grandchildren, Larry Knox of Dixfield, Betsey Knox of Canton, Brian Knox of Peru, Bethany Dyke of Canton, Rebecca Knox of Rumford, and Cristina Dyke of Avalon, Calif.; seven stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
