PARIS – June Marston of South Paris, an Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice volunteer, was one of two volunteers to receive the Home Care Alliance of Maine’s Home Care and Hospice Award at the annual Blaine House Tea Nov. 18.

Marston was honored for her commitment and dedication as a senior companion and home care volunteer. She has been a volunteer for the agency since 1999.

Over the past four years, she has made an incredible difference in the lives of more than 20 senior citizens, many of whom live alone, said Nancy Greene, volunteer coordinator at AHCH.

Marston spends at least 20 hours per week combating loneliness by visiting seniors.

“June Marston exemplifies devotion and dedication to patients in need. Her services bring quality to our patients and are central to the mission of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice,” Greene said.

As an example of Marston’s commitment to volunteering, for about two years she visited a person with a serious illness one or two afternoons a week so that the person’s spouse could take a break from providing care, Greene said. They spent time together visiting and playing cards.
