AUBURN – Auburn VFW Post members voted to donate proceeds from the next two breakfasts, from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 21 and Jan. 4, to a Special Olympic project that will be held Saturday, Jan 24.
Members have been holding breakfasts every other Sunday and the profits have been donated to community projects.
Post Commander Charlie Burns presented a check for $325 at the annual turkey raffle to Tom and Dianne Poulin, leaders of the annual Auburn Blue Christmas project.
Post 1603 members also voted to request hosting the Maine VFW Convention planned for June 10, 11 and 12 at the Ramada Inn in Lewiston.
The post will also go to winter hours, 2 to 5 p.m., starting Jan. 1st on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, starting Jan. 1, unless there are enough members present to warrant staying open later. Friday and Saturday hours will remain the same.
