CANTON – A meeting to allow flood victims to meet with representatives from the state and American Red Cross will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Canton Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall.

The meeting is scheduled by Dawn Dunn, deputy director of the Oxford County Emergency Management Agency.

“This is very important and will be your first opportunity to obtain help. Now’s the time for everyone to report for this last rainstorm only,” said Dawn Dunn, deputy director of the Oxford County Emergency Management Agency.

Damage estimates may include roads, publicly-owned buildings and facilities, governmental costs for evacuation and shelter, and other protective actions like sandbagging, barricades, signs and extra fire and police.

“We are also collecting individual damage estimates for this last rain event,” she added.

Individual assistance may cover damage or loss to private homes (primary residents only), rental property, businesses, farms, cropland and livestock losses.

“Remember, this is a rough estimate. Do not hold up reporting to get firm numbers. The agency needs this information as soon as possible for the state to review,” Dunn said.
