PORTLAND (AP) – Graham Mink scored a goal and added an assist and Rastislav Stana made 30 saves as the Portland Pirates defeated the Springfield Falcons 4-1 Friday in the American Hockey League.

Colin Forbes had three assists for Portland and Andrej Podkonicky added two.

The Pirates (10-14-1-3) took command early by scoring three times against starting goalie David LeNeveu.

Mike Souza scored his first goal of the year at 1:24. Mink netted the game-winner at 2:34 and Matt Libby scored his first professional goal at 5:06.

The Falcons (9-13-4-1) got on the scoreboard late in the first period, when Krystofer Kolanos made it 3-1 at 15:51.

Chris Hajt iced the game for Portland 9:56 into the second period.

Stana made his most spectacular save late in the second period, turning aside Kolanos’ point-blank breakaway attempt.

Jean-Marc Pelletier replaced LeNeveu in Springfield’s net after Libby scored in the first period.
