SOUTH PORTLAND – Claudette A. St. Pierre Gagnon, 75, formerly of Lewiston and South Portland, died Saturday, Dec. 20, at St. Joseph’s Manor in Portland following a lengthy illness.

She was born in Lewiston, the daughter of Raoul and Clara Ouellette St. Pierre, and attended schools here.

On May 17, 1947, she married her beloved Adrien A. Gagnon. They were lovingly devoted to each other for 55 years. Early in their marriage they resided in Lewiston, and later moved to South Portland, where they resided for 45 years. For several years, Mrs. Gagnon and her husband wintered in Daytona, Fla., following her retirement.

She worked at Pepperall Manufacturing for 10 years in Lewiston. She was then employed by Health-Tex in Portland as a supervisor for 22 years before she retired.

She was an avid golfer, and was a member of the Rivermeadow Golf Club in Westbrook. She was also a bowler, and was a member in a senior bowling league at Yankee Lanes in Portland.

She loved people and life. She enjoyed opening her home to many. She loved to entertain for friends and family.

She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Elaine Crangle and her husband James of South Portland, and Denise Blanchard and her husband James of Tewksbury, Mass.; a son, David L. Gagnon of Auburn; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Adrien; and one son, Michael.
