NEW ORLEANS, La. – Joseph J. Howard Jr. died Friday, Dec. 19, at Meadowcrest Hospital. He was 83 years old, and the son of the late Joseph J. Howard Sr. and Margaret O’Brien Howard.

He was the beloved husband of Theodora Rizoulis Howard, and father to Diana E. Howard, Mary Howard Briner, John J. Howard, and Kathy E. Hamman. Grandchildren include Gregory Hamman, Ashley Howard, Beau Briner, Whitney Howard, Lauren Hamman, Kelsey Briner and the late Jason Howard and Jessica Hamman. He was the brother of Catherine A. Howard.

A native of Lewiston, he was a resident of New Orleans, La., for the last 30 years. He was a retired First Lieutenant in the United States Air Corps. During World War II, he spend 14 months as a POW in the European Theatre. He also was a retired district manager in the retail industry and was a retired senior vice president of the Westbank Guide.
