1917 – 2003
LEWISTON – Leo P. Angelides Sr., 86, formerly of 36 Jeannette Ave., Lewiston, died Friday, Dec. 19, at Marshwood Center for Health Care and Rehabilitation.
He was born in Manhattan, N.Y. on Oct. 16, 1917, the son of Paul and Celina Fortier Angelides. A resident of Lewiston for more than 50 years, he grew up and attended schools in New York where he graduated from high school.
He was a United States Army veteran, having served as a tech sergeant during World War II.
Along with his brother John, he owned and operated the Sheraton Restaurant in Lewiston for many years. He later worked for Shaw’s Supermarket until his retirement.
He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan, and also enjoyed watching golf and reading. He was an excellent Greek cook and loved to cook at his restaurant and for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Diamond (Rallis) Angelides of Lewiston; two sons, Paul and his wife Sherry Angelides of Lewiston, and Leo and his wife Debbie of Sidney; five grandchildren, Jessica, Nicholas, Nicole, Dusty, and Jake; a great-grandson, Mason; his brother, John Angelides of Lewiston; a nephew, John Angelides; and nieces, Terry Angelides and Stephanie Caldwell.
He was predeceased by his sister, Olympia.
