AUBURN – Central Maine Community College will offer 10 courses on its Saturday morning schedule for the spring semester, which starts Jan. 17.
“We have expanded our Saturday morning course offerings to meet the needs of our community,” said college President Scott Knapp. “We know that many people have work or other obligations during the week; but that shouldn’t keep them from starting or continuing their college careers. We also have staff on campus on Saturday mornings to provide additional assistance to these students.”
Spring Saturday courses end on May 8; tuition for each is $204, plus fees and books. Each course carries three college credits, which can be applied toward a degree at the community college or transferred to other accredited colleges and universities. Courses are offered in business, computers, information technology, social sciences and writing. Some courses have prerequisites or require approval of the instructor.
Business courses include financial accounting, small business management and leadership and interpersonal relations.
Computer courses include introduction to computer applications, introduction to computer aided drafting.
Information technology provides instruction and practice in identifying, locating, evaluating and utilizing information using methods of information retrieval including the Internet. This class will meet three class meetings on campus; the remainder is conducted over the Internet, using WebCT.
Two courses will be offered in the social sciences: introduction to psychology and introduction to sociology.
College writing and technical writing will also be offered.
