Town seeks bids

on bridge work

Selectmen have voted to seek bids for the two options presented by an engineer to replace the deteriorated Shiloh Road bridge.

The least expensive option, for an estimated cost of $91,000, would maintain the current configuration and profile and would involve about 200 feet of road.

The other, estimated to cost $234,000, would raise the bridge about 5 feet, change the existing 9-percent slope to 7 percent and involve 800 feet of road. The changes are designed to lengthen the life span of the bridge. Jan. 23 was set as the deadline to submit bids that will be opened that afternoon.
