WELLFLEET, Mass. (AP) – A pilot flying over Cape Cod made an emergency landing in Wellfleet Harbor on Sunday after he had mechanical difficulty with his plane.

Pilot Gary Baker, who lives on Cape Cod, was flying his 1981 single engine Varga airplane from Chatham when he started having problems at 1:15 p.m. He called police from the air on his cellular phone, according to Wellfleet police.

Baker landed his plane in shallow water near the harbor shore. Baker was not injured.

He was retrieved by the Wellfleet Fire Department rescue boat, police said.

Baker was not injured. State police and the Federal Aviation Administration were investigating, police said.
