1926 – 2003

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – John David Scott, 77, of Black Point Road, Scarborough, formerly of Auburn, and longtime summer resident of Chebeague Island, died Saturday, Dec. 20, at Edgewood Centre.

He was born Sept. 17, 1926, in Orange, Mass. He was the son of Arthur B. and Alice Leighton Scott.

He was a graduate of Oklahoma Military Academy in Clairmont, Okla., and was a graduate of Norwich University in Northfield, Vt., where he earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II and later served in the Reserves. He retired as a First Lieutenant in the Army Reserves.

He married Helen Malia 52 years ago on Aug. 4, 1951 at St. John The Evangelist Church in South Portland.

He was employed with Central Maine Power Co. for 39 years, retiring in 1993. He worked in the offices in Augusta, Waterville and Lewiston.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Malia Scott of Scarborough; three daughters, Susan Parra Scott and her husband Arturo Parra of Memphis, Tenn., Elizabeth Dreisbach and her husband Thomas of St. Augustine, Fla., and Kathleen Megna and her husband Michael of N. Hampton, N.H.: eight grandchildren, Michael, Allison, Molly and Luke Megna of North Hampton, N.H., Kristina, Leyla, Deidra and Alethea Scott of Woodlawn, Tenn.

He was predeceased by a son, David J. Scott June 7, 2002.
