DIXFIELD – State Rep. Randy Hotham, R-Dixfield, and his wife, Patricia, won the town’s Bicentennial Christmas Decorating Contest Saturday.

The Hothams, of 20 Third St., displayed a simple Nativity set and Christmas tree with white lights and created a garland-effect with white lights around their home’s first floor.

Ronald and Shirley Austin of 54 Weld St. took second place while Daniel and Charlotte Louvat of 39 Weld St. won third place.

On Monday, Dixfield officials presented bicentennial memorabilia and ribbons to the top three finishers “who did an outstanding job of decorating for the holiday season.”

Honorable mention ribbons went to Jeff and Lisa Knapp at 31 Nova St., Mike and Robin Morrison at 14 Morrison Road, Robert and Donna Taylor at 14 Taylor Road, Mark and Kim Bolduc at 140 Webb River Drive, Ronald and Yvonne Hemingway at 31 Sugarloaf Ave., Milford and Roseanna Abbott at 568 Common Road, Craig and Rebecca Coulthard at 31 Weld St., and Jeffrey Palmer at 30 Common Road.

Final bicentennial events include the installation of the town’s birthday present – the Bicentennial Clock – and the closing of a time capsule in January. The public is welcome for both events.
