1921 – 2003

LEWISTON – Lorn E. Thibodeau, 82, of 7 Brule St., Lewiston, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 23, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

Born in Van Buren on July 14, 1929, he was the son of Edmund and Flavie Thibodeau. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1939, and worked as a Western Union messenger while in school. After graduation, he worked for the J.B. St. Pierre Clothing Store before joining the U.S. Marine Corps in 1941. He served aboard the U.S.S. Mississippi, and also as a heavy artillery master gunner in the Pacific Theater during World War II, leaving the service as a sergeant in 1945.

After the war he worked for Cronin & Root Clothing Store, and managed Bernie’s Fashions Men’s Clothing for six years. He later worked for Delar Windows and the Maine Aluminum Window Co. of Lewiston, and was employed by the Job Corps in Poland Spring as a Senior Instructor in Retailing.

He was also employed for 12 years as a Work Contract Representative for Pathways Rehabilitation Center of Auburn, retiring in 1983, and served as an election poll warden in Lewiston for 17 years.

In 1946, he was married to the former Alice L. Dufresne at St. Louis Church in New Auburn. A member of Holy Family Parish and a former member of the Club Musical Litteraire, he is survived by his wife of Lewiston; two sons, Lawrence and wife Diane of Amherst, N.H., Roger and wife Nancy of Charlestown, N.H.; a daughter, Ann Marie and husband Raymond Dionne of Lewiston; two sisters, Dorothy Rioux of Lewiston, and Pauline Harvey of Auburn; two brothers, Edrick Thibodeau and wife Catherine of Lewiston, and Henry Thibodeau and wife Joan of Lewiston; and six grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Lottie Violette and Lucille Sampson; and four brothers, Romeo, Alfred, Richard, and Roger Thibodeau.
