BROCKTON, Mass. – Clarie R. Moore, 87, former resident of Lewiston, died Monday, Dec. 22, at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born in Ellsworth, the daughter of Margaret and Almond Reed. She graduated from Ellsworth High School, married the late Carol Moore, March 8, 1941. At the time of her retirement, she worked as secretary and bookkeeper for the Brunswick Artesian Well Co. in Brunswick.
Before moving to Brockton in 2002 she was an active member of Court Street Baptist Church in Auburn. She had served on the Deaconate and Board of Missions as secretary and was president and vice-president of the Young at Heart Club.
She was Past State Commander of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary as well as treasurer and first Junior Vice Commander and Chaplain. She was a past Unit Commander, Adjutant and treasurer of the Emilien Hamann Unit 11, Lewiston, D.A.V.A. She was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary 9389, Caribou and the American Legion of South China. She had been a volunteer at the Maine Veterans Administration Center, Togus, for 23 years, having 8,132 volunteer hours. She was V.A. Veterans Services representative at Togus for the American Legion Auxiliary and the D.A.V. Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, Lester R. and his wife Mary of Brockton, Mass., and Richard C. of Tampa, Fla.; three grandsons, Timothy of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., Douglas of Oil City, Pa., Chandler of Newport, R.I.; two granddaughters, Kristiana and Felicity of Newport, R.I.; two great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews; and a very close friend, Mabel Goding of Poland.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Florence Jude and Genevieve Fickett.
