1925 – 2003

LEWISTON – Gwendolyn G. Currier, 78, went to be with the Lord on Dec. 24, surrounded by her loving family.

Born June 10, 1925, she was the daughter of Frank P. Chapman and Gladys Spinney. She resided in Bethel, for many years before moving to Oxford. She graduated from New Hampshire Vocational Technical College, earning a Licensed Practical Nursing degree. She worked at Rumford Community Hospital for many years and later became an EMT with the Bethel Rescue Service and served as the treasurer.

She held a lecturer position with the Paris Grange and was a member of the Eleanor Gordon Guild and of the Bethel Methodist Church. Her hobbies included sewing, playing beano, and spending time with her many friends.

Survivors include three daughters, Lillian Franks and her spouse of Pittsburgh, Pa., Grace St. Hilaire of Lewiston, and Judith Barker and spouse of Bethel; two sons, John and spouse of Oxford, and Gregory of Sumner; a brother, Raymond Chapman of Gilead; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband John in 1991; three brothers, Ernest, Harold, and Robert; and a sister, Annie (Sweatt) Niles.
