I would like to thank the governor for the no smoking law that is going into effect Jan. 1.
I manage a small, private-members club in Lewiston and because we’re a private-members club, we are able to continue smoking after Jan. 1, as well as are all other private-member clubs.
I see a great exodus of smokers that frequent public bars in our community that will be coming to join our private-member clubs. This will be a great shot in the arm for private-member establishments throughout the state.
Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face. This law is as bad for small business as NAFTA is to our country’s manufacturing industry. Again, thank you very much, Mr. Baldacci, and to the great Democrats we have running our country into the ground.
