GORHAM, N.H. (AP) – A local 14-year-old boy died Sunday afternoon after his snowmobile went off the trail and hit trees.

Fish and Game Lt. Douglas Gralenski said the teen was wearing a helmet but suffered massive head injuries when his snowmobile went off the trail and collided with the trees around 4:30 p.m. He was accompanied by a friend on another snowmobile who called authorities. The boy was taken to Androscoggin Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Gralenski said. The boy’s name was not released because he is a juvenile, Gralenski said. He said there is no evidence drugs or alcohol were involved.

“It appears to be basically a tragic accident,” Gralenski said.
