Oxford County Democrats announced Monday that a list of caucus locations for all towns in Oxford County will be released in mid-January.
Caucus meetings will be held in all municipalities on Sunday, Feb. 8, in the afternoon or early evening, according to the prepared statement. The caucus convenors, locations and times also will be available on the state party Web site, www.mainedems.org.
The business of the caucus meetings is to indicate presidential preference, elect delegates to the May state convention, and to organize the municipal committees for the coming two years.
Absentee ballots are being introduced this year and may be obtained from the Maine Democratic Party office at 622-6233 or www.mainedems.org.
Petition Day
Democrats are sponsoring Petition Day on Saturday, Jan. 10, throughout the county to gather signatures on nominating petitions for the re-election of U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud, D-Maine. Those participating will visit Democrats in their towns to secure signatures. The day will conclude with a pizza party from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Fare Share Commons on Main Street in Norway with Michaud attending.
Anyone interested in assisting with collecting signatures should contact county Chairwoman Cathy Newell at 875-2116 or [email protected] for the required petition forms.
Caucus training
The January meeting of the Oxford County Democrats will be held Thursday, Jan. 22, at the Paris Town Office on Main Street beginning at 5 p.m.
The earlier starting time is necessitated by the business of the meeting, which will be training for the February caucuses. Snow date for this meeting is Friday, Jan. 23.
Aymie Walshe, executive director of the Maine Democratic Party, will conduct the training.
