PERU – At Monday’s meeting, selectmen began an overview of the warrant articles that will be voted on by townspeople at the March town meeting. Reviews and adjustments to projected expenditures based on last year’s totals will continue during upcoming board meetings.
A revised and updated animal control ordinance is also under consideration before being added to the ballot in March. Board members are hoping to adjust policy to allow the town to recoup costs involved for the animal control officer, kennel, and veterinarian whenever an animal’s owner is identified.
Several townspeople delinquent in paying their taxes are being put on notice that they are in danger of having property seized by the town. Residents who are notified, some of whom owe several years of back taxes, will have until Feb. 6 to respond.
The board accepted with regret the resignation of Planning Board member Warren MacFawn. There was no word on who might replace him or when.
