1922 – 2003
AUGUSTA – Dolores J. Bernard, 81, of Maine Veterans Home, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 30, following a long illness.
Born in Mansonville, P.Q., Canada, Sept. 10, 1922, the daughter of Joseph and Pomela (Lessard) Lessard, she was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, the Ladies of St. Anne Society, St. Paul’s Charismatic Movement, St. Paul’s Cursillo Group and Cushnoc Senior Citizens.
She had been employed at St. Augustine’s Cafeteria for many years and prior to that had been employed at Bates Manufacturing Co.-Edwards Division for over 12 years.
Survivors include a son, Ronald P. Bernard and his companion, Donna Sutter of Augusta; a daughter, Susan Harris and her husband, Paul of Augusta; four grandchildren, Nissa and Kylee Bernard and Sean and Ryan Harris; a great-grandchild, Lauren Bisch; and a sister, Geraldine Fournier of Lewiston.
Mrs. Bernard was predeceased by her husband, Joseph E. (Perley) Bernard on Dec. 15, 1992; and four sisters, Yvonne Lessard, Julienne Lessard, Marie Jeanne Bechard and Madeleine Theberge.
